Métropole-Rouen-Normandie signs the Universal Declaration of Humanity

Métropole-Rouen-Normandie signs the Universal Declaration of Humanity and inaugurates two Monuments to illustrate its commitment to the protection of human rights.

In a context of health crisis, twelve months after the fire of September 26, 2019, the City of Rouen and its Metropole demonstrate their commitment and the will to become a capital of the social-ecological transition, a reference in the fight against global warming, and thereby contribute to the protection of human rights.

The Universal Declaration of Humanity promotes the right of the inhabitants of our planet to live in a world whose future is not compromised by the irresponsibility of the present. All living beings have the right to live in a healthy and ecologically sustainable environment, within the framework of fair, united and sustainable responsible development. This declaration is in line with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights proclaimed in Paris in 1948.

Developed by a working group made up of jurists and climate specialists, adopted by many cities around the world, this text sets out four principles, six rights and six duties, which define humanity through its interaction between past and present generations. and future, affirming the interdependence between Man and Nature while creating rights and duties towards our collective heritage.
